Memory and Forgetting

I’m interested in human neurocognitive processes, and the idea that forgetting is an ongoing active function of the mind. Even as we absorb a memory, our mind immediately begins discarding information that isn’t deemed essential by the subconscious. This series of photographs represents memories in the process of being pared away. The photographs are shot on film using 4x5 and 8x10 view cameras with antique lenses.
